BCM 43142 cannot detect network

BCM 43142 cannot detect network

I have read so many threads about this wireless driver but non has been
able to help me sought out my wireless problem. I am on a clean install of
Ubuntu 12.01 64 bit. The wireless card does not scan or detect any
wireless networks. I have tried installing this package using dkms after
removing a conflicting package,

, the installer throws an error below
*Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 3.8.0-29-generic
(x86_64)* and a window on the GUI saying a system program caused
problems..no wireless.
sudo modprobe wl gives me the following: FATAL: Module wl not found.
Does anybody know how to get this card working? I have installed kernel
headers and sources
